Pensdale

Located in the Roxborough area of Philadelphia, Pensdale Apartments is a 65-unit HUD section 202 senior housing project. This project provides subsidized housing for low-income senior citizens, and was developed in partnership with Intercommunity Action, Inc. (Interac), a social services provider for the Roxborough senior community. The project architect was Kitchen & Associates and the General Contractor was J.J. DeLuca & Co. In addition to HUD, additional funding and financing was provided by The City of Philadelphia (RDA and Commerce), the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA), the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB), Roxborough Manayunk Bank and The Reinvestment Fund(TRF). This project involved the rehabilitation of a five-story former plush factory, known during the early 1900's as the Kaufmann Plush Mills, into 65 subsidized units, including 5 fully handicapped-accessible apartments.
